Surround is an immersive diorama that places the viewer inside a fragmented, reflective space which exists between self-reflection and disorientation. To engage with it, one must lean in. Inside, shifting imagery of the brain is reflected across the mosaic walls, distorting the sense of scale and orientation. The work is a visualization of one’s inner headspace: intimate, inescapable, and deeply personal. The piece considers the mind as both a private retreat and a space of disquiet, leaving the viewer to determine whether isolation is grounding or destabilizing.
